a bit about me

I love local, but am inspired by everything and always learning.

I grew up in Cambridge in relatively humble culinary surroundings, my parents always cooked for me and my brother, and in my teenage years I began to share with my father a love of the finer things. I began formal training at Magdelene College, Cambridge and qualified as a Chef whilst I was there. Moving on, I took on pub kitchens in Norwich and Cambridge developing my style in hearty but refined food. I then worked as Sous Chef at City Pub Company’s flagship food site in Cambridge for three years before getting involved in a foraging kitchen and then a bustling city-centre craft beer restaurant.

My style has evolved from classic British and European to include more Mediterranean and Levantine cuisine whilst developing a technical interest in Vegan cookery. I love to critique menus and always have an opinion to voice wherever I am dining (or working!).

I recently took on an allotment near to my home on the southern fringe of Cambridge where I grow all sorts of vegetables, some of which I’m proud to have served to guests in a professional capacity. During the pandemic I have been developing my dishes with a special focus on what I can grow and forage, as well as using some of my favourite local suppliers and grabbing the odd discount from the supermarket!
